Bio

Brent Showalter is a partner with the Firm's Business Group where he enjoys negotiating, managing, and advising clients on the real-world legal implications to their business of, complex merger and acquisition transactions and general corporate matters. Brent is also a member of the Firm's Collegiate Practice Group where his areas of practice include NCAA athletics infractions and compliance matters and coaching contracts in addition to assisting the Firm's college, university and sports industry clients on variety of matters.Brent is an active mergers and acquisitions lawyer, representing private equity funds and other individual companies in more than 130 completed transactions generally ranging in transaction size from less than $1 million to $450 million. Brent's mergers and acquisitions transactions have involved companies in various industries including manufacturing, distribution, software and technology, agri-business, utilities, business services and consumer products. In addition, Brent serves as general counsel to clients who do not employ in-house counsel, advising these clients on the real-world legal implications to their business of an array of matters affecting such clients, including contracts, intellectual property, financing, and corporate governance. Brent graduated summa cum laude from Wartburg College in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in business administration. While at Wartburg, Brent was a member of the track and field team and earned NCAA All-American, Academic All-American and school and conference Scholar Athlete of the Year honors. Brent received his Master of Business Administration from Marquette University College of Business Administration in 2007. Brent graduated magna cum laude from Marquette University Law School in 2007 with a juris doctor. While at Marquette, Brent was the Executive Editor for the Marquette Sports Law Review, a member of the Marquette Law Review, and received his Sports Law Certificate from the National Sports Law Institute.
