Matthijs has worked extensively in M&A including in the hospitality sector, the TMT sector (including for Sony, KPN, Veon, Enreach and Liberty Global), industrials (including deals for Aalberts Industries), energy and utilities (NUON, Eneco, Klimaatfonds Nederland), agriculture and food (including M&A for Fonterra, Cargill and Tetra Pak) and real estate (Wereldhave). In private equity Matthijs worked with various PE firms, including CVC Capital Partners, Advent International, Cerberus, Hg, Waterland Private Equity, Bencis Capital and Parcom Capital.
