Bernd Wirbel is currently serving as one of the firm's co-managing partners. Bernd advises on public and private takeovers, private equity transactions, and corporate law. His transactional practice encompasses both domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures. Bernd has a particular emphasis on public takeovers. Over the last 15 years, he has been involved in more than twenty contested and uncontested high-profile takeover transactions advising either the bidder or the boards of the target company. Recently, Bernd advised Schneider Electric on the bid for RIB Software SE and the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Wohnen SE in connection with the takeover by Vonovia SE. Bernd Wirbel also advised Thermo Fisher on the bid to the shareholders of Qiagen N.V. Bernd also acted for private equity clients, such as KKR on its bids for WMF AG, Versatel AG and GfK SE as well as Apollo on its bids for Demire AG and AGROB Immobilien AG. Bernd also advises on private acquisitions and disposals as well as multi-jurisdictional carve-out transactions. Past highlight transactions include advising Bosch on the sale of its vacuum and hydraulic pump business and its worldwide starter and generator business, the sale of the producer of the Toniebox, Boxine GmbH, to Armira as well as the acquisition of a majority stake in Pro Gamers Group by HAL Investments. Bernd is the author of a chapter on public takeovers in the Beck’sche Handbook M&A. Bernd is also the author of a chapter on joint ventures in the Munich Corporate Law Handbook.
