John Mccarthy, a founding partner of Harrington & McCarthy with over 25 years of experience as a corporate lawyer, is a corporate transactional attorney who concentrates his practice on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, venture capital and private equity transactions, business agreements, executive compensation agreements and corporate counseling. John has counseled privately held and public corporations in a variety of industries, including businesses in the information technology, biotechnology, medical devices and other high technology sectors, as well as the insurance brokerage industry. In addition to his transactional experience, John has considerable experience serving as outside general counsel to small and mid-sized private companies and guiding entrepreneurial companies in all stages of development, from formation to liquidity. Before founding the Firm, John was a principal and managing director of the corporate department of McNamara & McCarthy P.C., an entrepreneurial law firm providing corporate legal services. Prior to that, John practiced as a corporate attorney at national law firms Morgan Lewis & Bockius in New York and Brown Rudnick in Boston. Before embarking on his legal career, John worked on Wall Street as an officer at U.S. Trust Company of New York, a private bank and investment management firm.
