Bio

Susan Meyer is a partner at Gordon & Rees and Co-chair of the firm's Intellectual Property practice group. A registered patent attorney, Ms. Meyer’s practice focuses on intellectual property, specifically, litigation, licensing and transfer, biotechnology patent prosecution, and trademark and copyright prosecution. Ms. Meyer provides trademark clearance searches, portfolio management, prosecution, and Trademark Trial and Appeal Board representation. She has filed and prosecuted hundreds of trademark applications and has extensive background in domain name trademark enforcement matters. Susan manages complex foreign and domestic trademark portfolios for clients in the consumer products, medical diagnostics, retail services, and insurance fields. Ms. Meyer is licensed with the U.S. Patent Office, and provides patent searches, patent application preparation and prosecution, freedom to operate opinions, and U.S. and international patent portfolio management in all scientific and technical fields. Patent licensing and commercialization agreements are also a specialty. Susan has spoken extensively on the America Invents Act to universities and technology companies. Ms. Meyer is an experienced federal courts litigator, focusing on patent, trademark copyright and trade secrets cases. She firmly believes that strong up-front analysis of a case and frank discussions with her clients lead to earlier and better resolution of cases. Her prosecution background makes this possible – there should be no “rolling of the dice” in these important cases. Susan has successfully argued in front of the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Additionally, Ms. Meyer provides counseling on copyrights, including filing copyright applications, trade secrets, and anti-trust issues. She also has experience handling bankruptcy and foreclosure matters.
