Bio

Daniel J. Hyzak is a partner in the firm's Oil & Gas/Energy practice group and represents corporate entities engaged in all facets of energy production, transportation and delivery including for oil and gas operators, E&P companies and energy midstream corporations throughout the United States. Mr. Hyzak specializes in a variety of energy-related litigation matters, including: oil and gas royalty disputes; contract claims; energy related torts; mineral ownership disputes; pipeline condemnation actions; and property damage claims associated with energy production and transportation. Mr. Hyzak also focuses his practice on certain transactional matters, including the purchase and sale of oil and gas producing properties, farm-outs, joint development agreements, natural gas processing and sale agreements, complex rural and urban oil and gas leases and surface use agreements, pipeline easements, wind power agreements, sand and gravel leases, and road use and maintenance agreements (“RUMAs”). Mr. Hyzak balances his Oil, Gas & Energy practice with a general commercial litigation practice which includes matters related to commercial contracts and construction disputes, complex commercial litigation and professional liability matters. Mr. Hyzak has successfully first chaired numerous mattes at Ohio Courts of Appeals in areas of energy law and professional liability. He has also had speaking engagements on issues involving Ohio’s Dormant Mineral Act and Marketable title Act. Mr. Hyzak has extensive experience in all phases of litigation including expert and fact witness depositions, dispositive motions, motions in limine, mediations, arbitrations, trial in both state court and federal court, appellate briefing and appellate oral arguments.
