Shawn Aguiar is a partner in Goodwin’s Private Investment Funds practice. Shawn practice focuses on fund structuring and formation, and on separately managed accounts, long term funds, and permanent capital vehicles. He advises managers and investors in the private equity, private debt, infrastructure, and venture capital sectors. He covers a wide range of funds including impact and sustainable investing, emerging markets, sharia’a-compliant funds, incentive / carried interest schemes (including phantom carried interest plans) and co-investment arrangements. Shawn has also led on GP-led and secondary transactions, strategic investments in fund managers and the establishment and restructuring of manager platforms. Shawn is also an integral member of the firm’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) & Impact practice, an innovative new practice area that helps investors mindful of environmental, social and governance issues make a positive social and/or environmental impact through their investments without sacrificing returns. He previously worked with Ambienta, BentallGreenOak, Centum Capital, Charme Capital, Circuitus Capital, Crescent Capital, Denham Capital, Foursan Group, Intermediate Capital Group (ICG) / ICG-Longbow, LGT Capital, Mandarin Capital, Partners Group, Propel Venture Partners, and Standard Chartered Private Equity. Prior to joining Goodwin in 2017, Shawn was a partner at King & Wood Mallesons (formerly SJ Berwin).
