Michael’s practice covers mergers & acquisitions as well as corporate and competition law, with a focus on Asia-related cross-border transactions. He regularly advises Asian clients, especially Japanese, Korean and Chinese companies, on German and European law issues. In addition, Michael advises German companies on their business activities in Asia. Michael studied at the universities of Bonn, Hamburg and Chicago (LL.M. 2003). He has been a partner of Gleiss Lutz since 2011. From 2006 to 2008 he worked at an international law firm in Tokyo. He is also admitted in New York State. He was Secretary General of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association from 2019 to 2021, is a member of the German-Japanese and German-Chinese Associations of Jurists and also a member of the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as the German-Korean Business Association. He furthermore holds seminars for students of Doshisha University in Kyoto (together with Christopher Vogl) and for students of the European Business School and of the Universities of Tübingen and Bonn (together with Christopher Vogl). Michael speaks German, English, French, Japanese, Czech and Russian.
