Bill Spain is a partner in Gilbert + Tobin's Corporate Advisory group. Bill has been with the firm since 1991 and is the Chairman of the Board of the firm. He has broad experience in corporate and commercial contracting, communications, and technology law. He has been involved in several large scale transactions in the mining, infrastructure, technology and communications sectors. He is experienced in complex contracting. Bill also acts for multiple major providers of capital to the e-commerce sector and has extensive experience in structuring investment funds and investment vehicles. He has developed a detailed knowledge of the communications industry, and the complex acquisition and joint venture issues relating to that industry, such as due diligence, asset transfers and capital investment structures. Bill has advised on a number of high-profile transactions including Vodafone's proposed acquisition of Optus, and one of the world's leading telecommunications carriers on both its potential acquisition of Singapore's second mobile carrier and an interest in Malaysia's largest mobile carrier. Bill holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales and he completed a Masters of Laws at the University of Sydney.
