Bio

Guillaume Rougier Brierre is a partner within Gide's M&A practice group. He specialises in acquisitions and privatisations, as well as foreign investments and joint ventures. He has in-depth knowledge of acquisitions and restructuring of financial institutions, both in France and abroad. Guillaume works with leading banks, asset managers, brokers and investment funds on their strategic operations. In particular, he advises Agence des Participations de l'Etat and Direction Générale du Trésor (restructuring of export control public financing 2022 / setting up of BPI Export Insurance ), Crédit Logement (restructuring of its surety business), Société Générale (public take-over of Boursorama, acquisition of ING Retail and auto financing JV with Kia-Hyundai in 2022), Crédit Agricole (sale of Newedge to Société Générale, sale of Cheuvreux brokerage business to Kepler Capital Markets, sale of CLSA brokerage business to the Chinese leader CITICS, sale of a portfolio of equity derivatives), Groupama (restructuring assets in Vietnam, China, Poland, and Latvia) or Sogecap (insurance) and some financial institutions on their presence in Russia since the Ukrainian war outbreak. He also advises leading infrastructure funds (Meridiam, CNP, FirstSentier, Infravia) on a regular basis. He worked for the French State on the privatisation of Aéroport de la Côte d'Azur and Aéroport de Lyon (2016), CNP Assurances on the acquisition of a 50% holding in Geosud (underground gas storage 2016), on the sale of its holding in Sanef (highways 2017) and on its participation to the consortium that took over 50% of Orange Fiber business (2021), the logistic investor Sogaris on its Euro 150M fund raising (2022) or Infravia on the sale of the management company of the Seine Musicale concert hall (2022). Guillaume has unique international experience, gained from working three years in Gide's Warsaw office (advising the Polish government and many foreign investors on mergers and acquisitions and privatisations, in particular on the country's mass privatisation programme). He managed Gide's Istanbul (Turkey) office from 2000 to 2006, and headed the mainland China Corporate and M&A practice in Gide's Beijing office from 2006 to 2009.
