Bio

James Szumski is an entrepreneurial corporate lawyer with a diverse legal background, having practiced in securities, corporate, commercial, secured finance, insolvency and restructuring law at major regional and national law firms, as well as inhouse as a senior executive at a publicly-listed technology start-up. Before becoming a lawyer, James earned a degree in Computer Science at the University of Toronto and worked on the development of novel artificial intelligence applications. James leverages his broad range of expertise to provide practical and creative solutions to clients facing complex, multi-dimensional challenges. He acts for both public and private companies engaging in mergers and acquisitions, private equity and corporate finance transactions and corporate reorganizations, as well as advising clients on matters of corporate governance, securities law and regulatory compliance, privacy and information laws, consumer protection and other corporate commercial matters.
