Nevena is a skilled transactional lawyer who focuses her practice on various types of merger and acquisition transactions, with a particular emphasis on private equity and cross-border deals. She represents financial and strategic buyers and sellers across a variety of industries, including technology, software and consumer products. She also often serves as general corporate counsel to public and private companies through all stages of growth, including financing, commercial transactions and exit strategies. Chair of the firm’s CFIUS & National Security Group and Co-Chair of its International Trade Group, Nevena also advises public and private companies through the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) review process in connection with foreign investment and acquisitions, export and sanctions compliance, and related controls, including compliance under the EAR, ITAR and OFAC. With in-depth experience in M&A and CFIUS, she provides effective and practical guidance on all phases of transactions with foreign investors. Also Co-Chair of the Public Finance Group, Nevena has served as bond, borrower's and underwriter's counsel in municipal and tax-exempt financing transactions. Her emphasis is on health care and higher education revenue bond financings. Prior to joining the firm, Nevena worked at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia in Beirut, Lebanon, as well as the United Nations Children's Fund in New York. Nevena is a member of the Steering Committee of the American Bar Association's Export Controls and Economic Sanctions Committee, as well as its International Trade Committee. Nevena is also a member of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Corporate Council, where she serves as an ambassador for CHOP’s innovation and philanthropic goals.
