Alexander Chen Bio

Alexander Chen is a Partner and currently co-chairs the Corporate and M&A department of Fortis LLP. Alex’s practice focuses on general counsel services, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt financings, healthcare transactions, entertainment transactions, corporate formations, joint ventures, corporate governance and business counseling, licensing and commercial agreements, and other general corporate representation. Alex has represented a wide variety of companies ranging from start-ups to mature public companies in various industries including healthcare, technology, retail and entertainment. Prior to co-founding Fortis LLP, Alex practiced law with Fortis General Counsel, LLP and represented venture capital and private equity firms, commercial and investment banks and acted as general outside counsel to companies at all stages of development. Alex has also worked in the Los Angeles offices of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, and in the Silicon Valley offices of Brobeck Phleger & Harrison LLP. Alex holds a JD from UCLA School of Law, where he graduated with honors, and he acted as the Editor-in-Chief of the Pacific Basin Law Journal. He also holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science from UC Berkeley. He is a member of the State Bar of California.
