Rod is a partner in the firm’s New York office and concentrates his practice in the field of intellectual property. His practice includes prosecuting patents in the software, electrical, and electronic arts, advising clients regarding technology transfer, including drafting and negotiating license agreements concerning intellectual property. His practice also includes conducting patentability studies, infringement and invalidity analyses, and rendering opinions with respect thereto. He also has an extensive trademark prosecution practice. Mr. Turner is highly skilled at learning a client’s business and tailoring their intellectual property to maximize its impact. Mr. Turner works with multinational corporations, mid-sized companies, start-ups, and universities. His varied background places him in a unique position to not only understand the client’s business and relevant technologies, but also provide real world advice from an extensive technical background. Rod has held positions as an Electrical Design Engineer and Technical Specialist for over thirteen years with companies, such as BAE Systems, Inc. and Harris Corporation, prior to joining the firm. He lectures on various aspects of U.S. patent law and intellectual property enforcement in China, Europe, and Japan. His fields of expertise include software applications, information technology, databases, software design technology, digital and analog circuits, computer hardware and software, communication systems, radar, antenna theory and applications, radio frequency components, fiber optics, electromechanical systems, wireless communications, alarm systems, microprocessor-based systems, and on-line resource-based systems. Mr. Turner received an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at New York University and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering at Stony Brook University. He is a member of the State Bar of New York and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
