Doug’s practice is primarily focused on real property and land use. He specializes in legal issues relating to acquiring, exchanging, leasing and financing of real property. Doug most often represents and assists developers in resolving their planning, permitting, zoning and CEQA compliance issues. Doug received his law degree from the University of California, Berkeley (Boalt Hall) in 1966. On graduation, Doug was honored by membership in the Order of the Coif. Doug was admitted to practice in California in 1966 and in the District of Columbia in 1970. As an alumnus of the University of California at Santa Barbara (BA in Business Economics, 1963) Doug has a special interest in the University. Doug served as a Trustee of the UCSB Foundation from 1992 through 1999. Doug served as a Community Member of the UCSB Intercollegiate Athletics Policy Board from 1992 to 2002. Doug has been a Member of the Board of Directors of the UCSB Economic Forecast Project for Santa Barbara County since 2001 and served as President of the Board from 2010 to 2012.
