and access,
With more than 20 years in practice, Veronica Cadman has a wealth of experience and knowledge in Competition Law across various markets and sectors. She advises on the full range of competition law matters, from mergers (notifications and representing intervening parties) to complaint and other litigious proceedings, as well as advice on Competition Law compliance. Within the area of merger control, Veronica’s depth of experience includes reviewing suites of agreements to determine whether there has been a change of control for South African Competition Law purposes and, if so, determining whether there is a competitor/ supplier relationship between the company making the acquisition (and all companies controlling it) and the target of the merger or acquisition. She has been involved in numerous transactions where there has been such an overlap, which has required her to acquire a working knowledge of the markets in question. Veronica is highly experienced in advising on, and managing, complex litigation. While Veronica’s litigation expertise has been primarily based on the South African competition legislation, she also has experience drawing on, inter alia, the law of contract, administrative and constitutional law, as well as foreign Competition Law legislation and jurisprudence. Veronica’s experience includes briefing counsel, briefing expert witnesses (such as international telecommunications experts or expert economists, whether local or international) and working with teams of lawyers. Additionally, Veronica has regularly conducted competition compliance audits, Competition Law training and advised on dawn raids (both actual dawn raids conducted by the Competition Commission, as well as “mock dawn raids”, where clients are assessing their dawn raid preparedness.)
