Sven Papp Bio

Sven Papp is one of the leading and most experienced corporate and M&A lawyers in Estonia. He has unique and broad international experience both as an attorney and as a General Counsel, having worked at White & Case in New York (1998-1990) and in Stockholm (1991-1992), the Swedish-French strategic management consulting firm SIAR-Bossard in Stockholm (1992-1994) and as General Counsel of Swedish Match East Europe in Stockholm (1994-1998). Sven has an unrivalled track record having over the past 25 years acted as lead counsel for more than 2,000 landmark local and international M&A transactions across the Baltic and Nordic region. Sven is one renowned expert in corporate governance, he has been serving as Board member and/or corporate secretary to several major companies, e.g. Eesti Energia, Eesti Post, Swedish Match, Estonian Telecom (currently Telia Eesti), Estonian Recycling Company, Tere/Farmi (Estonian leading dairy industries), Meeat Food Tech Oy, Elcogen AS, New Standard Oil OÜ, Estonian Development Fund, Estonian Festival Orchestra (symphony orchestra of world-famous Estonian conductor Paavo Järvi), etc. Sven a regular lecturer at Baltic Institute of Corporate Governance of various corporate governance topics and member of the Estonian Bar Association Business Law Committee. Sven has been a long-term member of the Listing and Supervisory Committee of Nasdaq Tallinn Stock Exchange, serving as a Chairman of the Committee for the past 5 years. His recent highlights include advising Printful, Latvia’s first unicorn, on its merger with Printify, privatisation of AS Operail and ERGO International AG on the acquisition of a majority shareholding in ADB Gjensidige. The latter deal earned Ellex the Mergermarket Baltic Legal Adviser of the Year award in 2024.
