Karishma Maniar serves as an Associate Director at ELP in the Defence & Aerospace practice. With over 11 years of experience in the defence sector, Karishma has been responsible for long-term and medium-term strategy and business planning, bidding, strategic HR and Investment planning, along with key activities related to strategic teaming arrangements, partnerships and alliances. She has been the lead on many large contract (ranging from INR 100 crores – INR 1300 crores) negotiations with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and/or clients as well as foreign OEMs and brings to the table an in depth understanding of the issues faced by all the stakeholders in the defence sector. Additionally, Karishma has also actively engaged in Policy Advocacy along with Industry Associations including FICCI, ELCINA, DIIA and CII to drive changes in Procedures and Policies in the Defence sector. Her recent contributions to critical industry issues have included inputs on formulation of DPP 2013, DPP 2016 and Revised MAKE Procedure, Strategic Partnership Policy, Representations to MoD on Exchange Rate Variation, Inverted Tax structure, non-level playing field, MAKE procedure and similar key issues. Prior to joining ELP, Karishma worked with Tata Power’s Strategic Engineering Division as Principal- Corporate Strategy and Legal & Contracts. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electronics) from Sardar Patel College of Engineering and is a Post Graduate in Executive Management Programme from SP Jain Institute of Management Research, Mumbai.
