Ambarish Sathianathan is a Partner at ELP and has been part of the firm’s International Trade and Customs practice since 2010. Ambarish has extensive experience in matters relating to trade-remedial laws and international trade. He has represented clients in several trade remedial investigations including Anti-dumping, Anti-subsidy and Safeguard investigations. Ambarish has worked successfully with clients across various sectors including Petrochemicals, Steel and Other Metals, Automobiles, Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, Electronics and Consumer goods. His areas of expertise include representing clients in trade remedial and other trade related cases conducted in various jurisdictions, including the United States, Brazil, Australia, Thailand and India. He continues to assist international and local clients in mitigating trade related risks and maximising synergy across global value chains. In addition to trade remedial work, Ambarish has also worked on a wide range of trade-related issues pertaining to Trade Policy, Global Sanctions, Dispute Resolution under the WTO, and other Trade-related advisory, with growing exposure in e-Commerce, Big Data and Emerging Technologies. He has also been actively involved in representing client interests before various forums including ministries, panels, courts and quasi-judicial bodies at all levels. Ambarish has authored several articles and papers which have been published in leading newspapers and online media. Most recently, Ambarish co-authored a white paper titled ‘Analysing India’s draft E-Commerce policy from the viewpoint of International Trade’, which was subsequently submitted to the Government of India in response to comments invited on India’s proposed E-Commerce policy. Ambarish also recently co-authored an article (titled “Irreparable” damage or no impact, India-US need to sort withdrawal of GSP benefits bilaterally”) assessing the impact of the withdrawal by US for India’s GSP status, published in Economic Times online. Ambarish has earned a B.B.A LLB degree from National Law University, Jodhpur.
