Sajit Suvarna heads the Real Estate practice at DSK Legal. A leading authority in the real estate space, Sajit is sought after by leading property developers, government entities / agencies, corporate houses, offshore and domestic funds, financial institutions for his strategic and solution based legal advice on complex real estate transactions. He is well regarded by clients for his pragmatic approach and commercial awareness, and for his exceptional service oriented attitude. Sajit works closely with clients to ensure that transactions are well structured at the outset from both a strategic and commercial perspective to achieve their commercial objectives. His team also caters to the requirements of the clients on all aspects of real estate acquisition and development, investment opportunities in property development, project finance, real estate funds and REITs, the attendant tax efficient structures and legal, tax and regulatory issues around land aggregation for large townships, industrial and special economic zones and warehousing and logistics parks. Sajit provides end to end support to its clients, including drawing up dispute resolution strategies and appearing before the courts and tribunals in India. Sajit has been assisting governmental agencies in various Smart City initiatives, which is as a part of the Smart City Mission initiated by the Honourable Prime Minister. He also assisted the Ministry for Social Justice and Special Assistance, Government of Maharashtra in the acquisition of a house in London where Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar (architect of the Indian Constitution) lived, which has now been converted into a memorial. He is a regular speaker at seminars on legal developments and current issues in real estate and construction law including the recently enacted the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016. He is a registered Solicitor with the Supreme Court of England & Wales and the Bombay Incorporated Law of Society. He is registered with the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa and holds bachelors’ degrees in commerce and law.
