Ian is dual-qualified as an English solicitor and a professional engineer. He joined our firm as a partner in 2013 and specializes in major international engineering projects and related matters such as public procurement, long-term supply agreements, concessions and operations and maintenance. As well as undertaking project structuring, contract drafting and negotiation, he has a wealth of experience of resolving disputes, in particular their effective early management in order to avoid reaching formal proceedings. He has been involved in ad hoc, ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, ICSID, DIAC and ADCCAC arbitrations and is an accredited mediator. As a practising international arbitrator, he has sat on tribunals where the sum in dispute is in excess of USD 100 million, and has been appointed as tribunal chair where the sum in dispute was in excess of USD 50 million.
