Patricia Salazar Ives is a Partner at Cuddy & McCarthy and has practiced law with the Firm since 1987. Her primary practice areas are administrative and regulatory law, education law, employment law, Indian Law, litigation, public school bonds and finance, and telecommunications. She advises public and private employers on local, state and federal employment laws, employee complaints and grievances, employee handbooks and manuals, employment contracts, and other personnel matters. Patricia also advises telecommunications companies and other utilities on state and federal law, and advises public schools regarding board, bond and tax elections, as well as general obligation bonds and education technology lease-purchase issues. Patricia is a graduate of the University of Southern California, where she was a member of the Hale Moot Court Honors Program. Patricia received her B.A. from Whittier College, California. Patricia served as law clerk to the Honorable William F. Riordan of the New Mexico Supreme Court. She also served as Assistant Attorney General representing the Telecommunications Staff of the New Mexico State Corporation Commission and the New Mexico State Corporation Commission on telecommunications matters. Patricia is admitted to practice before the state courts of New Mexico, the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico, the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, the United States Supreme Court, and all courts of the Navajo Nation. She also represents clients regularly before the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission, the New Mexico Human Rights Bureau, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Office of Navajo Labor Relations, the Navajo Nation Labor Commission, and other state, federal and tribal agencies and commissions. Her professional associations include the State Bar of New Mexico, the Navajo Nation Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the National Association of Bond Lawyers, the Federal Bar Association, and the Council of School Attorneys of the National School Boards Association. She has served on the Navajo Nation Bar Association’s Training Committee since 2006. Born and raised in Northern New Mexico, Patricia is fluent in Spanish. She represents local non-profit organizations and currently serves as a member of the Governing Council of the Native American Budget and Policy Institute.
