Omar Zuniga Arroyo Bio

With nearly three decades of experience, Omar is widely recognized as one of Mexico's leading tax lawyers. His practice focuses on international tax matters, advising transnational companies investing in Mexico and Mexican companies on international transactions. He also addresses tax matters related to mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, and high-profile tax disputes. Over the years, Omar has led the tax aspects of numerous mergers and acquisitions transactions—including major real estate acquisitions, capital investments, and tax audits—in addition to advising on complex financing transactions. He has successfully represented Mexican and international clients before the Tax Administration Service (SAT) and provides day-to-day advice across a variety of industries. Prior to joining the firm, Omar served as Tax Director at GE Mexico, where he was recognized as " One of the 10 Best Tax Directors in Latin America " ​​by the International Tax Review. He is ranked Band 1 in non-contentious tax law by Chambers & Partners and as a notable practitioner in The Legal 500 for tax law in Mexico. He is a member of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) and the International Tax Program Practice Council at New York University. Omar has published articles in Tax Notes International and has been a professor in the Graduate Tax Studies Department at the Escuela Libre de Derecho for over 20 years. He is a frequent speaker at conferences organized by the IFA, the University of San Diego, the College of Public Accountants, and the Escuela Libre de Derecho. He graduated with honors as a lawyer from the Escuela Libre de Derecho (1995), holds a master's degree in International Taxation from New York University (1997), and completed postgraduate studies in Tax Law from the Escuela Libre de Derecho (1996). Omar is fluent in Spanish and English and has a knowledge of colloquial German.
