Among others, Mr. Enríquez regularly advises large multinationals and global private equity investors in connection with acquisitions and investments in Mexico across all types of industries. In particular, Mr. Enríquez advised Grupo Modelo and its shareholders in the acquisition of Grupo Modelo by ABI-InBev, which, to date, remains the largest M&A transaction in Mexico (US$21 billion). He advised AT&T in the sale of its 8% stake in América Móvil for approximately US$5.8 billion and in its subsequent acquisition of Nextel México for approximately US$2 billion. Recently, he advised Santander in its public tender offer for the acquisition of shares of its Mexican subsidiary, Banco Santander México, for US$1.5 billion. In the private equity field, Mr. Enríquez recently advised General Atlantic on the acquisition of a 30% stake in Laboratorios Sanfer, one of the largest independent pharmaceutical companies in Mexico; General Atlantic and Warburg Pincus on the acquisition of 50% of Banco Santander's global asset management division; and Southern Cross Group on the acquisition of 100% of Time Warner's Grupo Editorial Expansión. In the capital markets, Mr. Enríquez has advised issuers and underwriters on multiple global and national equity offerings, including the initial public offerings (IPOs) of Hoteles City Express, Corporación Vesta and the Mexican Stock Exchange, Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico (GAP), and Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte (OMA). For over a decade, Mr. Enríquez has been recognized or cited as Band 1, Tier 1 or equivalent in M&A and capital markets by various publications, including: Chambers Global: The World's Leading Lawyers for Business from 2003 to 2021, Chambers Latin America: Latin America's Leading Lawyers for Business from 2009 to 2022, The Legal 500 from 2009 to 2020, IFLR 1000 from 2007 to 2021, Latin Lawyer 250: Latin America's Leading Business Law Firms from 2007 to 2021, and has been recognized by LACCA from 2019 to 2022 as one of the leading lawyers in the region. In 2011, Mr. Enríquez was recognized by Latin Lawyer as Law Firm Leader of the Year. In 2019, Mr. Enríquez was recognized as one of the Financial Times Top 10 Legal Innovators for North America, and in 2022, Thomson Reuters recognized him as a Stand-out Lawyer. Mr. Enríquez is a member of the International Bar Association, has been an active Endeavor Mentor since 2006, and was appointed to the Board of Directors of Endeavor Mexico in 2021. He is a frequent speaker on mergers and acquisitions and private equity, and has taught M&A at the Universidad Iberoamericana. Mr. Enríquez has authored numerous articles and publications on various legal topics. Mr. Enríquez worked as an international associate in the New York office of Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP in 1997 and 1998. Mr. Enríquez was born in Mexico City, Mexico. He earned his law degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City in 1995 and his master's degree in law from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1997. His native Spanish is his native language, and he is fluent in English and French.
