His practice specializes in corporate and international taxation, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, financing, and capital markets. Mr. Brandt regularly advises private equity funds, financial institutions, multinational corporations, and technology companies on mergers and acquisitions transactions and a wide range of international tax matters. Additionally, Mr. Brandt regularly advises foreign multinational groups on their investments in Mexico and Mexican multinational groups on their investments abroad. Recently, Mr. Brandt advised Apollo Global Management as the lender on a $1 billion debtor-in-possession (DIP) credit facility to Grupo Aeroméxico SAB de CV ("AMX"), in connection with AMX's Chapter 11 proceedings in the United States. He also advised Abertis Infraestructuras and GIC Private Limited on the acquisition of over 72% of Red de Carreteras de Occidente, SAB de CV for $2.3 billion. Additionally, he advised the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan on their acquisition of a certain stake in Impulsora del Desarrollo y el Empleo en America Latina, SAB de CV through a public tender offer, as well as on the formation of a FIBRA-E for the acquisition of certain highway projects. Mr. Brandt also advised Cadillac Fairview (Ontario Teachers Pension Plan) on the formation of its real estate FIBRA with Grupo Sordo Madaleno. Mr. Brandt joined Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza & Enríquez, SC in 2016 and was promoted to Partner in 2022. Previously, Mr. Brandt worked in the New York office of a leading global firm, focusing his practice on international tax from a U.S. perspective. Mr. Brandt is the author of several publications on international tax topics, including recently co-authoring the book “ Thinker, Teacher, Traveler: Reimagining International Tax ” published by IBFD in honor of H. David Rosenbloom. In 2022, Mr. Brandt was recognized by Euromoney Legal Group with the Rising Stars Americas award . Mr. Brandt has been recognized by various publications including Chambers and Partners, The Legal 500, IFLR, and ITR World Tax . Mr. Brandt also serves on the academic advisory board of the Master of International Taxation program at New York University. Mr. Brandt earned his law degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana in 2009 (honorable mention). He subsequently earned his specialist degree in tax law from the Universidad Panamericana in 2010 (honorable mention). He also earned his master's degree in international taxation from New York University in 2012. Mr. Brandt has been admitted to the New York bar since 2012.
