Mr. Zamarrón regularly advises issuers, underwriters, financial insurers, liquidity providers, Mexican pension funds, and rating agencies, both local and international, on public and private structured finance transactions across various industries and sectors, as well as on financial regulation. Mr. Zamarrón has worked on some of the most innovative capital markets, structured finance, and asset securitization transactions in Mexico’s history, including the first Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC), the first Mortgage Trust, the first project bond listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange, the first issuance of Investment Project Certificates (CERPIs), the first covered bond, the first residential mortgage securitization, first-of-its-kind retail auto and floor plan securitizations, the first education loan securitization, the first asset-backed commercial paper conduit, the first structured securities issuance (now known as CKDs), and the vast majority of CKD issuances completed in Mexico to date, including several of the largest CKD issuances in the world. Mr. Zamarrón regularly advises Mexican companies and pension funds on compliance with Mexican financial regulations and corporate governance issues, and has advised the Mexican Stock Exchange and the National Banking and Securities Commission on regulatory development. Mr. Zamarrón has been recognized as a Leading Lawyer in Capital Markets by publications such as Chambers Latin America: Latin America's Leading Lawyers for Business, Legal 500, Who's Who Legal, and Latin Lawyer 250. Mr. Zamarrón earned his bachelor's degree from the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico in 2002 with honors, ranking among the top 3.93% of his class. He also earned his Master of Laws from Columbia University in 2005, where he was named a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. Mr. Zamarrón joined the firm in 2002. He worked as an international associate in the New York office of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton LLP in 2005-2006 and at other prestigious Mexican firms since 1998. His native language is Spanish and he is fluent in English.
