Mr. Aiza has worked on the most innovative financing and capital markets transactions in the history of Mexico, including the largest competitive Public Tender Offering process in the capital markets, the first and second IPO of a Special Purpose Acquisition Company (known as SPAC), the first, second and third IPO of a Fibra E, the three largest IPOs of Real Estate Investment Trusts (FIBRAs) and the first FIBRA of telecommunication towers, the first, second and third IPO of Investment Project Certificates (CERPIs), the first IPO of Capital Development Certificates (CKDs), the first Mexican real estate loan securitized abroad, the first securitizations of individual mortgages, individual auto loans and corporate auto loans, the first asset-backed commercial paper conduit , several of the most important Mexican real estate loans. the largest restructurings and the largest debtor-in-possession financing in the history of Mexico. In 2018, the Financial Times recognized Mr. Aiza as one of the " 10 Most Innovative Lawyers in North America ," the first Mexican lawyer included in that prestigious list. In 2022, he was recognized as an Eminent Practitioner by Chambers and Partners in both Banking and Finance and Capital Markets, and inducted into The Legal 500 Hall of Fame in the same specialties. In 2024, Mr. Aiza was recognized by The Legal 500 as “ Senior Partner of the Year ,” and Best Lawyers named him “ Lawyer of the Year ” in Mexico in the Structured Finance category in 2020, 2018, 2014 and 2010, Capital Markets in 2015, and Banking & Finance in 2012. In 2014, Lawyer Monthly Magazine recognized him as one of the “ 100 Leading Capital Markets Lawyers in the World ” in its Leading Lawyer 100-Capital Markets publication , the only Mexican lawyer to have received this recognition. In 2010, Latin Business Chronicle, published by Latin Trade Group, named Mr. Aiza one of the “ Best 50 Lawyers in Latin America ,” and Latin Lawyer named him Law Firm Leader of the Year 2010 . Mr. Aiza earned his law degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana in 1991 and his LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1993. He currently serves as an emeritus member of the Latin America Alumni Board and the CAROLA Leadership Counsel . Mr. Aiza worked as an associate in the International Banking Group at Coudert Brothers ' New York office from 1993 to 1994. He joined the firm in 1995 and was named a partner in 1998. He is a native Spanish speaker and fluent in English.
