Philip Boeckman is Co‑Head of the Capital Markets Practice for EMEA. He has been based in the London office since 2000, when he relocated to London from the New York office. Mr. Boeckman’s general corporate practice covers capital markets, including IPOs, rights issuances and other equity offerings, U.S. listings and high‑yield bridge, bond and other leveraged financings, as well as mergers and acquisitions. He has represented many of Cravath’s European clients, including AXA, Bacardi, BAT, Braas Monier, the European Investment Bank, Ferroglobe, innogy, Knorr‑Bremse, KPN, NH Hotel Group, Saipem, TNT and Unilever, and several Indian and South African companies. He has also represented Citigroup, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley and, as designated underwriters’ counsel, Prudential plc and the Republic of Poland. Additionally, Mr. Boeckman has represented a number of private equity firms, including Lion Capital, Permira and Terra Firma. Mr. Boeckman is Co‑Editor of European Securities Law. He is a member of the Editorial Board of Capital Markets Law Journal, as well as the Advisory Committee for the Practising Law Institute’s Annual Institute on Securities Regulation in Europe. Mr. Boeckman has previously served as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the AFME High‑Yield Division and Co‑Chair of the International Bar Association’s Securities Law Committee. Mr. Boeckman has been repeatedly recognized as one of the leading practitioners in capital markets by Chambers UK, Chambers Global, The Legal 500 UK, IFLR1000, The Best Lawyers in the United Kingdom, Who’s Who Legal: Capital Markets and PLC Which Lawyer? He was twice named Best Lawyers’ London “Lawyer of the Year” for Capital Markets Law. Mr. Boeckman has been ranked as the top corporate lawyer for EMEA in Legal Week magazine and recognized by Financial News in its annual list of the “Fifty Most Influential Lawyers.” He has also been named to The Legal 500 UK Hall of Fame in the High‑Yield category. Mr. Boeckman serves on the Board of Trustees of Westminster College. He is the Senior Fellow of America’s National Churchill Museum and serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the International Churchill Society. Mr. Boeckman was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He received a B.A. cum laude from Westminster College in 1988 and a J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Missouri in 1991, where he was a Notes Editor of the Law Review. Mr. Boeckman joined Cravath in 1991 and was elected a partner in 1998.
