Bio

Omar Soliman is a partner in the Business Law Group at Cassels. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, securities, and private equity-related matters. Omar has represented companies, boards of directors, special committees, management teams and other transaction participants on a wide range of domestic and cross-border public and private M&A transactions, including plans of arrangement, take-over bids, amalgamations, share/asset purchase transactions and other strategic matters, with a significant focus on emerging and expanding businesses in the Canadian mid-market. He regularly acts for issuers and investment banks on public and private offerings of securities, including initial public offerings, secondary offerings, private placements and other forms of equity and debt financing. In addition, Omar has extensive experience working with private equity firms, search funds and independent sponsors. He routinely represents domestic and international search funds (as well as searchers and search fund investors) through the full life cycle of the search model, including the raising of search capital, acquisition of a target company, follow-on investments, operating matters, and exit. Omar also represents non-traditional search funds, such as family office-backed funds and those that are self-funded. He acts for clients across all industries, with a special focus on the cannabis, mining, healthcare, and technology sectors.
