Bio

Catherine A. Woods’ practice focuses on health care law and insurance regulation, as well as general corporate matters. She is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, and has experience advising health plans, physician groups and health systems on regulatory, contractual and state agency matters. After graduating from the University Of Colorado School Of Law in 1999, Ms. Woods clerked in the Denver District Court, then joined a large, local firm in Denver practicing corporate and transactional law. While in Colorado, her corporate focus included counseling special districts in Colorado, quasi-governmental entities subject to multiple layers of governmental and state agency oversight and regulation. She also served as counsel to a physician group with multiple clinics and subsidiaries, advising on federal and state regulatory compliance including HIPAA, Stark, and Fraud Waste and Abuse laws, as well as general corporate compliance issues. Most recently, Ms. Woods has been counseling companies offering Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and Health Benefit Exchange Plans on regulatory, corporate and contractual compliance matters. In Washington, she worked in a compliance role within a health plan during the successful resolution of the plan’s matters before the Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner. She has a unique view of the challenges faced by companies in operationalizing corrective action plans and consent decree terms in order to successfully resolve OIC issues and maintain licensure and authority to do business in Washington. Before being called to the law, Ms. Woods was a licensed English and Language Arts teacher in Michigan. She has three beautiful children, and has provided pro bono services related to the development of appropriate 504 and IEP plans for differently-abled students, in honor of her oldest son. She holds licensure in Colorado and Washington. Education: University of Colorado School of Law, 1999.
