Gerardo Varela Bio

Gerardo is dedicated to corporate law, specializing in mergers and acquisitions, antitrust counseling and litigation, Family Offices and Holdings. Gerardo has been a partner since 1996 and joined the firm in 1990. His practice area is corporate law, specializing in mergers and acquisitions. Additionally, he is an expert advisor and litigator in corporate and antitrust matters. With more than 30 years of professional practice, he has been involved in mergers and acquisitions of more than 50 companies in areas as diverse as electric utilities, salmon companies, retail, among others. Furthermore, he is a director of several companies in the areas of health, agriculture, transportation and energy. He has also worked in different positions in different guilds (Lawyers, Chilean Chamber of Construction, Sofofa counselor) and in the State as Minister of Education in the government of President Sebastián Piñera. He is Arbitrator of the Chilean Chamber of Commerce of Santiago and has been Minister of the Ethics Tribunal of the Bar Association.
