Catriona Macallan Bio

Catriona is a partner in our energy team specialising in corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and complex private equity arrangements. She has extensive experience advising domestic and international clients on high-profile cross-border M&A transactions, and before joining the firm she trained and worked at Clifford Chance in London and Paris. Catriona leads our internal energy division and has a particular focus on advising clients in the renewable energy sector. She provides tailored and practical advice to help clients navigate often complex transaction processes from inception to completion. Clients commend Catriona as being pro-active, highly responsive and providing excellent value. Catriona is a member of our BeProud committee (Burness Paull’s LGBT+ employee network) and leads our China Desk. She is a proficient Mandarin speaker, having lived and worked in both China and Japan, and holds a Masters degree in East Asian studies. Drawing on this experience and her work with Chinese clients, Catriona has a keen understanding of the particular issues and considerations which affect both companies based in that part of the world, and those wishing to do business with them.
