Elizabeth provides strategic legal counsel to entrepreneurs, start-ups and investors. She works with a select group of start-up companies in a wide range of industries, including ecommerce, biotech, software, energy, consumer products and services, and health and wellness. She also advises investors, including angels, family offices and funds making venture capital investments in portfolio companies and purchasing equity from shareholders in private second market transactions. Prior to founding her own boutique practice at Seed GC, a predecessor firm to Breakwater, Elizabeth was a senior corporate and securities attorney at Gunderson Dettmer, where she represented emerging growth companies on incorporation, venture financings, acquisitions and IPOs. Her legal career began at San Diego firm Luce Forward where she worked with start-up companies and investment funds. Before embarking on her legal career, Elizabeth served as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy. She was stationed aboard the USS Sacramento (AOE 1) out of Bremerton, Washington and the USS Cole (DDG 67) out of Norfolk, Virginia. Her specialties included combat operations and logistics, ship-handling and anti-submarine warfare. Elizabeth’s alma mater is the University of Notre Dame, where she graduated with a BA in Government and International Relations and cheered on the Irish football team. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of San Diego School of Law and is a member of the California State Bar.
