Bio

Alejandro Montenegro is a partner on the M&A and Corporate Finance team and guides clients through all stages of the corporate life cycle. He leads deal negotiations and coordinates legal teams for both buy and sell-side transactions. His expertise spans a broad array of private equity and strategic transactions. He has meaningful experience in a variety of industries, including food & agribusiness, traditional manufacturing, manufacturing technology, health & life sciences, energy, consumer goods, business intelligence, information security and media technology. Maintaining a high level of professionalism while executing complex deal strategies, Alejandro focuses on strong, genuine communication and truly partnering with clients to help meet their strategic business needs. Alejandro helps entrepreneurial and seasoned companies alike to craft solutions tailored to specific needs. In addition to his M&A practice, he serves as an advisor on other transactions, including commercial contract negotiation, corporate governance, confidentiality agreements and facilitating internal legal compliance reviews. Alejandro serves on the Recruiting Committee in the Firm’s Chicago Office. He is also a key member of the practice group and works with the leadership team to promote effective and creative client solutions across the BCLP platform. Alejandro is committed to social justice. He works on a variety of pro bono matters, including guiding non-profit corporations through corporate governance issues, advocating for prisoner rights and conducting research related to Voting Rights Act claims. Prior to his time with the Firm, Alejandro worked for the South African Human Rights Committee in Cape Town, South Africa and supported efforts to bring a constitutional challenge to predatory microfinance and lending statutes. He also spent two years fighting to exonerate wrongfully imprisoned individuals with the Michigan Innocence Clinic.
