Bio

Serving as an Assistant County Attorney in Broward County, Paul Figg gained extensive experience representing general purpose local governments, including preparation of ordinances and resolutions, land use and zoning review, administrative law, ethics and elections, bid protests, constitutional rights, Bert J. Harris Act, intergovernmental conflicts, solid waste and flow control, construction disputes, labor disputes and disciplinary proceedings, employment discrimination, personal injury, equitable subrogation, and maritime and aviation law. He has also held prominent posts including Assistant City Attorney for City of Miramar and Assistant City Attorney for City of Weston, and been appointed Special Ethics Counsel to City of Miami Commission. As an Assistant County Attorney, Paul represented Broward County as lead plaintiff among a group of counties and municipalities that challenged the Florida Department of Agriculture’s implementation of its Citrus Canker Eradication Program, which involved numerous issues related to search and seizure, administrative warrants, substantive and procedural due process, and takings. Additionally, his experience includes advising private clients, local government and county agencies on issues involving land use, intergovernmental disputes, taxation, employment and labor disputes, solid waste, public records and meetings laws and elections. Paul is also experienced in constitutional litigation including issues involving due process, free speech and the establishment clause. Paul is one of a very few attorneys in the State of Florida that has been involved in multiple litigations under the Dormant Commerce Clause.
