Barry Reiter focus is on helping clients achieve corporate development, finance and governance objectives. As Chair of the Technology, Media & Entertainment Group, Barry represents start-up, growth and mature companies, and related private and public financing sources on: corporate and other business structuring; public and private financings; the protection and commercialization of intellectual property; licensing and other distribution arrangements; strategic alliances, partnerships and joint ventures; IPOs and stock exchange listings; mergers and acquisitions; and restructurings. Leading the Corporate Governance & Director Protection practice, Barry regularly advises boards, directors and management teams on governance, director protection (directors' duties, indemnification and insurance) and risk management (including financial, operational and cyber risk, and risk transfer) matters. He is an experienced director and has chaired boards and various board committees for public, private, non-profit, regulatory and governmental companies. Current board roles include: Baylin Wireless Technologies (Lead Director) and RIMES Technologies. Formerly a law professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto, Barry has written extensively on contracts, corporate governance, advisory boards and joint ventures. He is one of the lead authors of Directors' Duties in Canada, 7th Edition (LexisNexis 2021).
