Jennifer Coote is an experienced corporate transactions lawyer. In particular, she advises on private mergers and acquisitions, joint venture arrangements and equity capital raisings. Jennifer is a partner in Bell Gully’s market-leading corporate team. She advises corporates, private equity and sovereign wealth funds on both the buy and sell sides. Jennifer advises on transactions in a variety of industries including financial services, consumer products, manufacturing and industrial, technology and telecommunications. Recent work highlights include advising Ampol on its acquisition of Z Energy for NZ$1.96 billion and Vodafone New Zealand on the sale of its tower business for NZ$1.7 billion. Jennifer is focused on assisting clients with delivering complex transactions in a timely manner and providing commercially focused and pragmatic advice. Jennifer is ranked as a ‘Rising Star Partner’ in the ILFR1000 in 2022 and a ‘Next Generation Partner’ in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2023 and is described as “fiercely intelligent but also commercial”. Jennifer recently authored Wolters Kluwer’s Corporate Acquisitions and Mergers publication for New Zealand. Jennifer returned to Bell Gully in 2015 after four and a half years working in the corporate team of the London office of Herbert Smith Freehills. During Jennifer's time in London, she worked on a number of complex cross-border acquisitions and joint ventures.
