Şahin Ardıyok is the Head of the Competition law, Public Policy and Regulation team. Under this scope he has extensive knowledge and practicing experience in competition law, government affairs and regulation, energy law, telecommunications law, PPP and project finance and international trade law. He counsels clients on a broad range of antitrust and competition issues, with the objective of providing real-world solutions on countless transactions, agreements and competitive concerns. He frequently helps clients anticipate and avoid antitrust problems which may arise from competitor collaborations, product and service pricing as well as relationships with customers, competitors, and employees. During his five years of service at the Turkish Competition Authority as a case-handler, Ardıyok worked in groundbreaking investigations/cases specifically in the telecommunications, media and broadcasting, information technology and electronic appliances sectors. He also engaged in the examination of precedent setting mergers/acquisitions and privatization transactions as well as negative clearance and exemption applications. These experiences enabled him to gain familiarity and develop expertise on regulated industries. His regulatory practice covers not only the industries such as telecommunications, energy, broadcasting, banking sectors which are governed with dedicated regulatory agencies but also all industries where government intrusion is available via tools of economic regulation (food, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, environment, etc.) Ardıyok’s theoretical and practical proficiencies allow him to represent his clients in privatization, public procurement, antidumping and project finance (particularly PPP) matters and projects. Each year Ardıyok and his team, consisting of devoted lawyers and economists, represents large domestic clients, government institutions, NGOs and multinational companies in a significant number of TCA investigations and merger/acquisition notifications, regulatory authority filings, appeal cases, antidumping investigations (across Turkey, the EU and the US) and PPP projects. He has massive experience in complex TCA investigations, mergers/acquisition filings, government affairs and compliance programs across almost all industries. He also supports the Corporate/M&A and Litigation teams of the office in order to provide holistic legal services. As a senior practitioner of 15+ years, Ardıyok frequently addresses conferences and symposia on competition law and regulated industries; he often publishes on competition law, regulation and law and economics.
