and access,
Leila Hubeaut joined August Debouzy as a partner in January 2021. She has been applying her extensive legal expertise and strategic vision to complex and high-stakes projects and transactions in the energy, infrastructure, mining and telecommunications sectors, with a focus on North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. She has over 20 years of experience in advising clients on regulatory and public law aspects, contractual arrangements, project financing, and mergers and acquisitions, ensuring the bankability and sustainability of their ventures. Her mission is to provide innovative and tailored solutions to the challenges and opportunities that arise in the dynamic and evolving energy landscape, especially on the African continent. She is also involved in the decarbonization of the industry by setting-up innovative power productions projects in France and creating credits carbon projects based on nature-based solutions. She has provided pro bono support to the new Solar Energy Standardization Initiative launched by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the Terawatt Initiative (TWI – a global private non-profit organization led by Engie and launched at COP21) which aims to spur global solar development by standardizing contracts to streamline the development and financing of solar projects. She also runs training sessions for African representatives of electricity regulators every year at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris (Mines ParisTech).
