Bio

Renu Gupta is a Partner of Amis, Patel & Brewer, LLP, who joined the firm at its inception together with several longstanding colleagues. She is an environmental attorney whose practice focuses on regulatory issues affecting renewable energy and sustainability infrastructure. Her experience extends to the solar photovoltaic, energy storage, onshore and offshore wind, electrical interconnection and controlled environment agriculture sectors. Renu also has assisted clients with development of liquefied natural gas terminals, fuel processing and chemical manufacturing facilities, conventional power plants and linear infrastructure, such as natural gas pipelines, transmission lines, communication facilities and roads. Renu has expertise in managing environmental review, land grant, certification and permitting processes under several federal and state programs. She represents clients in matters before the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of Interior (Bureaus of Land Management, Ocean Energy Management and Reclamation; U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service; and U.S. Forest Service) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, among other agencies. She routinely advises clients on issues pertaining to Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act, Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act and Federal Aviation Administration regulations, among others. Renu negotiates environmental and regulatory compliance aspects of renewable energy credit, energy offtake, membership interest and asset acquisition, financing, equipment procurement and construction, development services, electrical interconnection and related agreements. She manages environmental due diligence reviews for mergers, acquisitions and financing transactions, and she works closely with clients to address development and operating risks. While attending law school, Renu served as a Research Editor for the Houston Journal of International Law, interned with the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, Judge Harold R. DeMoss, Jr., and the United States Federal District Court, Southern District of Texas, Judge Lee H. Rosenthal, and was awarded a Dean’s scholarship. Prior to practicing law, she worked with environmental firms in northern Virginia and Texas.
