A member of the firm's Corporate/Commercial Group and co-chair of its Transportation Group, Joanne’s practice is focused on Canadian and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, reorganizations and financings. A significant portion of her practice involves the acquisition and disposition of Canadian subsidiaries by U.S. or foreign parent entities. She also advises private equity funds on buying, selling and restructuring Canadian businesses. Joanne represents banks, syndicated funds and other institutional lenders as well as commercial borrowers, in connection with secured and unsecured financing transactions. Joanne has developed extensive experience in representing clients in the transportation industry, earning recognition as one of Canada’s leading practitioners in transportation law. She routinely advises clients engaged in truck, bus and rail operations as well as logistics services providers on transactions, licensing and regulation, cross-border issues and transportation agreements.
