Ben Koehne Bio

Ben is Co-Head of the Financial Services Sector across our global offices and a Corporate Partner based in our London office with a particular focus on advising clients in the financial services sector. He has more than 25 years' experience advising on a wide range of corporate and strategic transactions including UK and cross-border mergers and acquisitions (including acquisitions under the UK Banking Act 2009 and banking business transfer schemes), disposals, joint ventures, intra-group restructurings and advising the boards of companies, building societies, co-operatives and other entities on directors' duties and a variety of constitutional, corporate governance, strategic and regulatory driven matters and projects. He has advised on numerous high profile, significant and award-winning industry-defining mandates and market firsts. Ben's clients include banks, building societies, mutuals, wealth and asset managers, brokers and stock exchanges, amongst others. Ben heads our market-leading Building Societies and Mutuals team and during 2014 spent time on secondment to Nationwide Building Society serving as Acting Deputy Group General Counsel. Ben closely monitors legal and regulatory developments and advises clients on their strategic response to change. He has served on a variety of industry working groups and has supported clients closely on their engagement with governments, regulators and other key stakeholders.
