John “Yogi” Spence co-founded XMS Capital Partners in 2006 with Ted Brombach. In addition to his management responsibilities for the firm, Yogi leads the firm’s efforts in life sciences, tools and diagnostics. Recent notable deals include advising Exact Sciences on the $2.8 billion acquisition of Genomic Health and Edwards Lifesciences on the acquisition of publicly traded CasMed. Besides his efforts in the healthcare sector, Yogi leverages his 30 years of experience across industries and recently led the sale of Focal Point, a family-owned lighting manufacturer, to Legrand. Before founding XMS, Yogi spent the first 17 years of his career at Morgan Stanley, where he led the corporate finance execution practice in the Midwest from 1997-2002, executing tens of billions of dollars of equity offerings, convertible offerings and high-yield financings for a diverse array of companies. Yogi graduated magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame with a bachelor’s degree in economics and earned his MBA at the UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Management.
