Mike provides strategic transaction advice to firms in the financial technology sector across Waller Helms’ key financial services verticals, with a specific focus on payments technology businesses. Mike joined Waller Helms in August 2023 after spending four years running the corporate development team at Payroc WorldAccess, LLC (Payroc). During that time, Mike executed 16 acquisitions and investments. Prior to Payroc, Mike was a Vice President in the FinTech M&A team at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey (now Truist Securities). In that role, he advised on financial technology M&A transactions across payments, wealth technology, and capital markets technology. Mike’s previous investment banking experience began with Citigroup as an analyst in South Africa and an associate in the Telecommunications, Media, and Technology (TMT) M&A team in London, UK. This was followed by a return to South Africa to work on TMT M&A at one of the largest local investment banks, Rand Merchant Bank. Mike grew up in South Africa and earned his Bachelor of Business Science Degree at the University of Cape Town. He also gained a Master of Business Administration from HEC Paris, during which time he enjoyed an exchange program semester at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.
