Bio

John joined Venturi & Company in 2018 and has more than 30 years of mergers and acquisition experience. Previously he was a Managing Partner at Instream Partners, a middle-market boutique investment bank focused on technology companies. Over a 13-year period he represented companies in the payment processing, software, adtech, LED and semiconductor industries. During that time he was the lead banker on more than 30 engagements and had origination responsibilities for EDS and IP companies. His clients included Cypress Semiconductor, SwitchCore AB, Genesis Microchip, Allegro Manufacturing, Linear Air and iRoc Technologies. Previously, John established and led the Mergers & Acquisitions Group of SoundView Technology Group on the west coast, where he served from 2000 to 2003. He represented both buy-side and sell-side engagements and was head of SoundView's Valuation Committee. His clients at SoundView included Roxio, New Vision Systems, Pulsecore, V3 Semiconductor, Net IQ, Luxsonor and Semitool. Prior to SoundView, John was an Executive Director at UBS in the Latin America Mergers & Acquisitions Group. His clients bridged a number of industries, including forest products, pulp and paper, copper mining, electricity generation and distributions, and banking. Transactions ranged in size from $85 million to $3.2 billion. He led teams that represented the Finance Ministry of Colombia and the State of Sao Paulo in their divestitures. Other clients included Banco Economico, Mondi Ltd. (South Africa) and Kimberly Clark de Mexico. John began his investment banking career as a founding member of the Mergers & Acquisition Group of Salomon Brothers. He became a Managing Director and was appointed to head Mergers & Acquisitions in Japan and Asia and led investment banking in Japan. Upon his return from Japan he was Worldwide Head of Chemical Industry Mergers & Acquisitions. During his 15-year tenure he completed more than 200 transactions in the media, newspaper, telecommunications, forest products and chemicals industries. John has also served as the CFO of IDXP Analytics and has served as board member and head of the Audit Committee for Aceto Corporation. John received a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from The Colorado College and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from the Wharton School.
