Bio

Jim joined Venturi & Company in 2013 with over 20 years of mergers and acquisitions experience as both an investment banker and corporate development executive at major multinationals. Previously, Jim was a Managing Director with Reynolds Advisory Partners and Onyx Associates, both middle-market boutique investment banks from 2008 to 2013. From 1999 to 2008, he served as Managing Director in Applied Materials' Corporate Business Development Group. Jim joined Applied Materials to help build the firm's Corporate Development and M&A capabilities conceptualizing and executing M&A transactions between $10 million and $2 billion in total enterprise value. Aside from buy-side activities, Jim led a number of important sell-side divestiture assignments, cross-border joint ventures, IP licensing and other partnering transactions. To date, Jim has completed over 40 M&A transactions globally worth over $3 billion in the areas of enabling technology, IP acquisitions, hardware, software (primarily process equipment and manufacturing execution systems), services, and clean industry solutions with a main focus on the photovoltaic (PV) market. Prior to Applied Materials, Jim spent 11 years with Chevron Corporation where he served for eight years at Chevron Chemical's International Business Development Group and was part of a team developing a new $600 million world-scale petrochemical project in Saudi Arabia with the Saudi Industrial Venture Capital Group, a venture group comprised of business leaders in the Kingdom. Jim's role was to handle all the economic valuation and project financing activities where over $500 million were placed with an international loan syndicate and the Saudi Industrial Development Fund. He also explored energy and petrochemical M&A and other development opportunities in Venezuela, Mexico, Singapore and other Middle Eastern countries. Jim received a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Chicago, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley.
