Managing Director
and access,
John’s 35-year career has included many rewarding chapters. After 7+ years as a CPA for Ernst & Whiney, he began a long successful career in banking at National Commerce Financial (NCF)as controller before climbing to COO/CFO of National Commerce Bank Services. John then was brought to Richmond to start up and serve as president & CEO of First Market Bank, the first ever joint-venture chartered bank that we grew organically to $1 billion in assets in less than five years. In 2004 John was recruited to be CFO of Marshall & Ilsley Bank in Milwaukee ($50 billion in asset size) and after two years recruited again by Fifth Third Bank in Cincinnati ($100 Billion in asset size) to serve as head of M&A. Concurrent with my time at Fifth Third and First Capital, John was serving on the Board of Directors for Lumber Liquidators, having joined that board in 2006 prior to the company’s IP0 in November 2007. With the IPO, I became lead director and was subsequently named Chairman in 2016. John holds a BA in Economics and Business Administration from Rhodes College, and is a CPA, State of Arkansas. John serves on the Board of Directors of The Doorways, and was an active fundraiser for Massey Cancer Center, Goochland Educational Foundation, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and the John & Amy Presley Charitable Foundation. Prior Board Involvement: USC (Virginia and Ohio), Children’s Museum of Richmond, Henrico Business Council; Leadership Metro Richmond, Class of 2000, Inter-City Ambassador
