David Soden is a Senior Managing Director and leads the Financial Services restructuring team in London. David has over 20 years’ experience in complex international insolvency assignments and related advisory engagements. This work combines both formal insolvencies and working in advisory capacity, performing complex security/option reviews, ‘Relevant Alternative’ analyses, and advising boards through the zone of insolvency. He has completed a broad range of engagements in the sector, including no creditor worse off valuations, recovery and resolution plans, solvent wind-downs, confidential contingency planning assignments and formal insolvency. David is currently working on several Russian related mandates, having been appointed Special Administrator of Sova Capital Limited, VTB Capital PLC and Sberbank CIB UK Limited at the onset of conflict in the Ukraine. He has previously led the liquidations of Abraaj Investment Management Limited and the Dubai private bank in the Espirito Santo Financial Group, both of which have involved managing a complex group of stakeholders and resolving disputes across a number of jurisdictions. His experience extends to restructuring and insolvency matters involving the UK and several other jurisdictions including Continental Europe, the Middle East and offshore financial centres including Jersey, the British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands. He has extensive Scheme and Restructuring Plan experience both for UK and international companies, including preparing the “Relevant Alternative” analysis for complex cases such as Codere, MetInvest and Jain, litigating both offensively and defensively in DeepOcean and Virgin Active respectively. David is a licensed insolvency practitioner and Chair of the Transactions, Restructuring and Insolvency Practitioner group for the industry body INSOL.
