As a Managing Director and Founder at Spectrum, Ian brings to bear his expertise in assessing businesses and risk to ensure that companies are presented to mitigate potential funding issues allied to a detailed and up to date knowledge of private equity, debt markets and structures. Ian is a highly experienced corporate banker having originally trained and qualified with Barclays Bank. In addition, he has over 30 years of acquisition and leveraged finance experience in banking having worked with both Bank of Scotland and Royal Bank of Scotland. During this time Ian has been involved in the financing of numerous debt transactions to include MBOs and MBIs, various corporate acquisitions, private equity, and restructurings involving a wide range of industry sectors. In recent years Ian was the Managing Director of National Private Equity relationships for the Royal Bank of Scotland where he was the key contact with all of the leading mid-market UK private equity houses. He has a detailed knowledge of all aspects of private equity and an understanding of their investment strategies and approach.
