Sanjiv Shah joined the energy & power investment banking group at Piper Sandler in 2008 as an analyst. Since then, Shah has worked on more than 150 M&A, strategic advisory, restructuring and capital markets projects, including playing a key role in the majority of the oilfield services & equipment sector's U.S. IPOs since 2014. Shah is based in Houston and was named global co-head of energy & power investment banking in July of 2019. Prior to joining the firm, Shah worked for Citigroup for four years in London and Zurich, in fixed income capital markets and the financial institutions group, respectively. In Zurich, he worked as a corporate banker covering the banking and insurance sectors and in London, he worked as a controller for the European global loans and leveraged finance product groups. Shah has more than 17 years of investment banking experience. Since 2017, Shah has served on the advisory board of the Energy Workforce & Technology Council (formerly known as Petroleum and Equipment & Services Association, or “PESA”), which represents more than 600 member companies in energy services, supply, manufacturing and drilling, and focuses on enabling members to safely, profitably and sustainably produce the energy needed to meet rising demand around the world. He served on its emerging leaders committee from 2015 to 2017 and currently co-chairs the Energy Transition committee. Shah was presented with the Industry Innovator Award by PESA in 2019. This award is presented to the PESA member who has shown significant engagement and leadership in leading/charting a new course for the sector. Shah has also served on the board of directors for the Association of Corporate Growth (“ACG”) Houston Chapter since 2018 and has been involved in several transactions that have won ACG’s Deal of the Year awards for cross-border transactions, M&A, financings and restructuring. In 2018, he was named a 40 under 40 honoree by both the Houston Business Journal and Hart Energy Oil & Gas Investor. Shah is originally from Manchester, England, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree with honors in economics from the University of Manchester.
